Tottenham have announced the signing of Scotland striker Kirsty Hanson from Aston Villa following the player's outstanding performance in the 2025-26 Women's Super League season. Hanson made 22 appearances for Villa and scored 12 goals, making her the first double-figure scorer in a single season. Hanson's goals total last season was surpassed only by Manchester City's Khadija Shaw (21) and Arsenal's Alessia Russo (13). Her former team, Aston Villa, finished ninth in the table, 11 points clear of bottom-of-the-table Leicester City. Image Hanson, 28, said after signing a long-term contract with Spurs that she was delighted and excited to be part of the club's progress. Ready to accept new challenges and want to improve yourself every day. Hanson joins Villa on loan from 2022 before making the move permanent. And before that, she played a role in helping Manchester United gain a foothold in the top flight after the team were promoted in 2019. Tottenham finished fifth in the first season under former United assistant Martin Ho and the club hopes to challenge for a Champions League place in 2026-27, while they have further strengthened their squad with the recent additions of Shekiera Martinez and Caitlin Dijkstra. The value of this round of team transfers has not been disclosed. But the contract Hanson signed was long-term. This reflects Tottenham's intention to strengthen their attack and add long-term options within the squad.
