Hull City avoid points deduction after selling Ivor Pandour and Edon Shehu

Hull City avoided the risk of being deducted points from the Premier League after selling two key players before the financial period closed on June 30. The club announced on Tuesday that it had sold goalkeeper Ivor Pandour to Rangers for £6 million. Pandour, 26, joined from Fortuna Sittard in January 2024 for £1.5 million and won the club's Player of the Year award three times in the 2024-25 season. On Wednesday morning, Hull confirmed the sale of star midfielder Edon Shehu to Panathinaikos. Reportedly worth around £2.5m, the sale of the 19-year-old, who joined from Southend United for a meager compensation fee. It was an accounting gain for the club as he never played for Hull's first team and was recently loaned out to Scarborough Athletic. The two deals generated profits of around £7m, erasing the club's losses under the EFL's Financial Supervisory Regulations (PSR). PSR rules limit Championship clubs' losses to £39m over three years. Hull has reported losses of around £6m for the period up to the 2025-26 season, if the losses cannot be erased. The club could face up to a six point deduction upon promotion to the Premier League. Only profits from player sales count towards PSR's calculations and Hull were previously expected to sell Kyle Joseph to Middlesbrough for £5m to help clear their losses. But the deal was not completed in time due to problems between the two clubs. The fallout from PSR concerns also means Hull will be unable to sign any new players before the start of the season. Trading activity is expected to accelerate after the new fiscal period begins on Wednesday. The PSR is being replaced by a new system called squad cost ratio (SCR) that estimates ongoing spending on an annual basis. It allows clubs to spend up to 85% of the revenue generated on the first team. This is different from PSR's three-year total loss assessment. --- ## Related Articles 1.
